Shang: Funny first. Some people don’t give a damn. They don’t care about the social stuff. They want you to be funny first.

AACtv: Shang, what are some of your most memorable shows that you’ve done standup on?

Shang: BET. The one with Bruce Bruce.

I’m also co-starring in the upcoming movie, “Devine Intervention” and I’ve been slated to shoot a movie called “Boardwalk”.

AACtv: That’s great, Shang. I’m happy for you.

AACtv: Do you have any movie projects in the works right now?

Shang: I’m about to do a DVD. It’s my first DVD. Straight live standup. I can stretch out. It’s gonna be about racism, sexism and chauvinism.

AACtv: Great. That’s good to hear.

Shang: After that I’mma sell hookers andstick out my butt cheeks. Only one, though

AACtv: lol…lol

AACtv: Are there any future plans for you to move away from standup comedy and do strictly television or film?

Shang: TV. It’s looking that way.

AACtv: You have a New CD out right now. What’s the title of it?

Shang: SHANGRY! I got the cover on my myspace page page. I’m on XM Radio. It’s the number 3 most played special on XM. Oh, I’ve been on the CBS Late Late Show.

AACtv: What’s the New CD about, Shang?

Shang: Mark Howard tagged it SHANGRY! I’m SHANGRY! At the time I was SHANGRY!

AACtv: lol…lol — Where can people buy your New CD, Shangry!?

Shang: Any store. Tower, Virgin! They can’t get it at Walmart or Target. I’m on Itunes, too.

AACtv: Do you have any upcoming tour dates and if so where can people find those listed?

Shang: They can see the listing on my website and my myspace pages. I have two. The website is www.iamshang.com. The myspace pages are www.myspace.com/iamshang06 and www.myspace.com/iamshang. They can also email me for free passes to some of my shows.

AACtv’s Celebrity News & Interviews: Lincoln Heights’ Nicki Micheaux Talks with AACtv.

Hello Everyone,

When it comes to family dramas there aren’t very many out there. Not to mention that there are none like this one, “Lincoln Heights” on ABC Family.

Last week I had the privilege of speaking with one of the stars of ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights”, Nicki Micheaux in a phone interview in Brentwood, CA. Nicki Micheaux was born in Detroit, MI, and her dad was a Colonel in the Army. Although, she lived in different places throughout the U.S. as a result of her father being a Colonel in the Army, she somehow found a love for acting.
AACtv Celebrity Interview with Trevor:

AACtv: Hi, Nicki!

Nicki: Hi, Trevor. How are you?

AACtv: Great, Nicki. Thanks for asking. Let’s jump right into it here.

Nicki: Ok.

AACtv: What’s Lincoln Heights about, Nicki?

Nicki: Lincoln Heights is about an African American family that moves into an inner-city neighborhood and the husband just happens to be a cop. He wants to do right his family and the neighborhood yet sometimes has to find a balance.

AACtv: Tell us about the character you play on ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights”.

Nicki: I play Jenn Sutton who is Eddie’s wife, played by Russell. My character is a strong, independent woman but she is also very supportive of Eddie and her family.

AACtv: Nicki, what makes this character such a compelling one to play for you?

Nicki: Well, because she’s so real. The show deals with real issues and things that people go through everyday.

AACtv: What are some of the other more memorable roles that you’ve played that people might remember you from?

Nicki: Well, I did Six Feet Under where I played a drug-addict. I was on “Soul Food” and also “The Shield”. On “The Shield” I played detective Trish George. I enjoyed it.

AACtv: Nicki, you play Jenn Sutton who is an independent but supportive wife to Eddie Sutton played by Russell Hornsby. What’s that experience like working with Russell?

Nicki: Oh, it’s great! Russell is so good to work with. He’s always such a professional. It make going to work a better experience when you can get along with everyone you work with.

AACtv: Are their any similarities to your role on ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights” to your own real life?

Nicki: You know, Trevor, as a matter of fact there is. Jenn Sutton, the character I play works everyday, is a mother and a wife. In real life I work, I’m a loving and caring wife and my husband and I have a daughter, too.

AACtv: You were born in Detroit, MI, and your father was a Colonel in the Army. That means you moved around a lot. How did becoming an actress happen for you?

Nicki: Determination! I kept pushing for it. Hoping that one day it would happen for me and it did.

AACtv: Is there anything else that the people can catch Nicki Micheaux on?

Nicki: No. This is it for me right now. “Lincoln Heights”!

AACtv: Thanks for joining us, Nicki. We’ll talk to you again, soon.

Nicki: Thanks, Trevor. My pleasure.

School Teachers

March 15, 2007 by africanamericanchannel

It’s a new day.

I spoke to a friend of mine that I went to high school with early this morning. She’s a school teacher in Atlanta. We talked about how teaching was going and the students. Also, the fact that, you know, teachers get sick from students when they come to school sick. lol..lol We laughed it off. But then she told me about her first visit to the website, www.africanamericanchannel.com, and how she thought it would be a great place for children and students of all ages to do book reports. Book reports on topics that they can see visually on film. It’s a great place to watch videos and films period. WOW! I thought to myself…”ya see–I’m not the only one that gets it other people are seeing the value already in our early stages. Her name is Necey…just to give her a shout out…lol..lol! And no she isn’t eligible to win any of the contests when we have them. lol…lol
New videos are coming to the site over the next couple of days. So keep checking back!

Until next time.

We are live!

March 14, 2007 by africanamericanchannel

Well, the website is live and an email release has been circulated to many around the globe. It’ll be great to see the people watch and be entertained, watch and learn! It’s been pretty busy for me. Right now I am just trying to image where this can all go. Not just for me but those around me, too. In life we try so hard to make a difference. This channel can make the difference in how we view things overall. The way cultures connect with one another. The views that we have of ourselves and others, too.

Every week and sometimes daily, we’ll have new content. that’s new videos, news clips, you name. If we can get it for you…we will.

Would you like to see documentaries on the historical events of African Americans and other minorities in history? Let us know.

Thanks for checking us out. We appreciate it.

Until next time.

Almost live!

March 14, 2007 by africanamericanchannel

Well, it’s been a long day. The website seems to be coming full circle. We will definitely be adding more films and clips for everyone to watch. There’s this one film with Nat King Cole and Sarah Vaughan, “Rhythm and Blues Revue”. It was filmed at the Apollo Theatre in New york. Then there are other films, too. Take a look and I hope that you’ll enjoy them, too.

More later. Gotta get back to adding things to the site.

Until next time.

This week

March 13, 2007 by africanamericanchannel

The site is just about ready to go. I am thinking about the historical images that I am going to have on the website. I am also considering allowing others to post images or send them to us for posting on the site. I see that there are many video and film sites online. However, I think that we will be the first to embark on having content geared toward the more African American and minority demographic on the web. At least in the format that it will currently be in. I am hoping to partner with some of the other companies out there in hopes of brings you content like more popular African-Americans in the media. Can’t wait to bring on the independent content so that people can see it and become more familiar with some indie producers and filmmakers.

Until next time.
